Recognized as a Rising Jazz Star by the Downbeat Magazine Critic’s Poll (2013 & 2014), Champian’s “galvanizing presence” (the New Yorker) and her alluring musical presentation have made her "a charming young steward of the mainstream Jazz tradition." (The New York Times) Born in Oklahoma, Champian Fulton grew up surrounded by jazz musicians and music in the home. Although still in her 20s, she sings and swings with the authority of a seasoned pro, captivating audiences in New York’s finest Jazz rooms and in concert halls around the world. Her 2013 release on Sharp Nine Records, "Champian Sings and Swings", was recognized as one of the top 10 Jazz Releases of the year by the NY Observer. Champian's new album, "Change Partners", was recorded in front of a live audience while on tour at the Yardbird Suite in Edmonton, Alberta Canada and will be released October 28, 2014.
